Assessment in Practice

The assessment approach used in TIPA defines an assessment project with six clearly established phases.

The TIPA assessment method provides a step-by-step description for each of these phases. Each phase is summarized in a quick reference card with a purpose, objectives, roles involved, inputs, outputs, supporting tools, and tailoring instructions.

Definition Phase Quick Reference Card

Purpose: To define the scope of the assessment project, to identify the key actors, to agree on a Service Offer and to agree on the Assessment Scope Agreement.

Tailoring
If the assessment project is performed by an internal team, there is no need to prepare and agree on a formal Service Offer. In that case, tasks DEF.6 and DEF.7 (see section 4.4.3 for details) can be skipped. In the case of an internal assessment, some aspects of the context discovery could be skipped in task DEF.10.
